It has taken three years and many sleepless nights, but in August of 2003 we finally accomplished what our detractors said couldn’t be done. We have:

1. obtained an "A" rated reinsurer
2. established affordable rates that are actuarially sound
3. obtained approval of the Louisiana Department of Insurance and all State auto liability regulatory offices
4. formatted easily understood coverage forms

After all this, it now seems that our battle is not over – some of our competitors don’t seem to believe in "fair" competition. We expected competition, but the levels some competitors will reach in order to compete with us has, very frankly, astounded us.

Premiums from other companies are being withheld until the TRPLT pricing is known and then their pricing "magically" becomes a little lower than ours. Why now? Why not last year or the year before when premiums were so high that several of our industry’s businesses were forced to close doors or drastically cut back operations?

The Trust is being attacked as joint and several liability – yet, these same competitors asked us for a chance to sell our coverage’s when the Trust was formed. They also sell coverage daily through several workers compensation, joint and several liability carriers. How do they justify glorifying one, but condemning the other?

Consider this – Just by being out there to compete, the TRPLT has already saved everyone in the industry money on this year’s renewal premium – whether you’ve become a Participant or not. What happens if next year or the year after the TRPLT goes away due to lack of support? PREMIUMS RISE AGAIN AND THE INDUSTRY HAS LOST AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ITS FUTURE!
